ABOUT LIV HANNA
In the ever-changing pop music landscape, one axiom always rings true, the artist must be authentic to themselves and offer the listener a glimpse into their innermost feelings, free for all emotional complexities. 18-year-old singer, songwriter from New York, Liv Hanna, carries a tool kit laden with emotional angst, fermented in Pop, Soul and R&B sensibilities. Through her music, Liv Hanna showcases her expansive vocal range, and uniquely talented songwriting prowess. Studying piano since the age of 8, Liv performed in several choirs, the most elite of which being the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York. Hanna was surrounded by music growing up as an only child, with her father playing multiple instruments including guitar, piano and drums. This year, Hanna enrolled at the University of Miami, Frost School of Music on a full scholarship.
Scheduled for released on July 8, 2022, as temperatures rise Liv Hanna gets the party started with an 80’s influenced summer jam, “Lovers In The Night.” The NYC native and sophomore at the University of Miami, Frost School of Music, Hanna is not one to shy away from the omnipresent glare of the iPhone spotlight. Hanna states: “Lovers in the night discusses being in your own world and not caring about an audience watching your every move. It is about two people going out and just having a good time oblivious to their surroundings. It’s about spending the night with someone and being carefree, “Lovers In The Night.” Written by Hanna with some added compositional funk provided by co- producers, Guy Eckstine & Paul Pesco, “Lovers In The Night” showcases Hanna’s dance floor grooves with infectious bass lines and multi-layered vocal harmonies. Hanna’s latest single, echoes Philly soul with the perfect amount of audio ear candy to please the headphone crowd.
With the onset of the Covid- 19 pandemic, Liv found herself isolated from her classmates while sequestered at home during her senior year of high school. Hanna states, “In some ways the pandemic offered me the time to dive deep and discover what I ultimately wanted to say as a songwriter. The moment I realized I had to remove myself from a negative situation which sparked my song, “Grown” last year. In 2020, Hanna released her Guy Eckstine and Joe “Legacy” Lindsay produced single and video, “New You,” which captured her in a reflective mindset, lyrically delving into her innermost thoughts on self, personal relationships, and the outward façade most people wear daily.
As Liv continued to compose new songs, Eckstine called on session guitar ace, Paul Pesco (Madonna, Jennifer Lopez) to co-produce. A result of this collaboration, Liv offers up a more balanced contemporary pop sound with Hanna’s patented keen observational lyricism and a new-found fondness for multi-layered and more complex vocal arrangements. Released earlier this year, “Bedroom” also showcases Hanna’s evolution towards incorporating R&B influences into her music, leading into the ultimately triumphant song, “Self Made.”
In February 2022, Liv released “Drowning In Bacardi.” Hanna reveals, “After quite a few mid- tempo songs I wanted to write a song that was a bit more upbeat and pop. It was a different flavor for me having a heavy dance groove underneath my usual observational lyrics.” Hanna continues, “Although we all love a good time, it became an issue between me and one of my friends, and I guess this was my of working out those feelings as I had tried in vain to save my friend from herself. I really like to convey a message of my truth in a setting where my thoughts will be heard and perhaps help someone who needs it.”
On April 8, 2022 Hanna will release her latest single and video, “Rebound. ” Hanna states, “Rebound” tells the story of a young guy breaking up with his girlfriend as she attempts in vain to warn his rebound fixation of what is coming her way. Lyrically speaking, “Rebound” is truthful but sarcastic, and the salty tone highlights her frustration with her ex-boyfriend and his selfish actions. The ex- girlfriend (me) informs his new conquest that she is merely a ‘rebound love’ from her past relationship, and that she should be careful jumping in so fast with someone only looking to put another notch on their belt.”
Hanna continues, “I shot the video in Miami because I believe Miami most accurately represents my generations heated and non-stop party scene. I feel like having or being in a rebound love is very common especially in college, and my song highlights the experience from both ends of the relationship spectrum. “Rebound” illustrates the take no prisoners attitude of boys gone wild, and reveals the rebound girls naivety to the overall situation, and what she is getting into, as the rebound cycle goes around and around. The message of “Rebound” is one of warning, awareness, and the overall frequency of being a ‘rebound,’ and informs the audience against taking that path to find love.”
